Udacity Propel 2018 — Experience
I am pursuing React Nanodegree from Udacity and before I share my experience about the event I would like to provide few details about my Nanodegree and the rest of Nanodegree’s in general. React is one of the most promising tech in the field of Web development and is quite interesting and it has several advantages compared to many other frameworks. This made me to choose react and the reason why I went with Udacity is their earlier success rate and reviews from the close circle and of course its tie ups with major companies like Amazon, Google, and others.

The above two hashtags that Udacity has chosen to trend for their event is quite nice and I am not a resident of Bengaluru (Bangalore)but traveled all the way to Bangalore just to attend the propel event. The day started at 9 am with the registrations and the process continued till 10 and around 10 Udacity has shared the candidate's resumes as per their desired positions with the companies. I’ve chosen full stack developer as I worked as a Full-stack earlier and wanted to continue that way. On a rough note for Web development, there are around 7–9 startups and companies recruiting and I was shortlisted for 6 of them.
One among them is Groupon, I’ve cleared the initial round during that day and the rest process was scheduled for a later time. I started with my interviews from around 11:30 and I was giving interviews back to back till 5:30. I grabbed on a on-spot offer for one of the company and was shortlisted for further rounds with few others.
Want went right and wrong? — I’d start with the positive things the way the event was handled like I know how difficult it would be when one startup is recruiting as they try to hire the best and have a long process usually but managing the event with those many startups is so cool and able to get some great companies like Groupon is very good. I am just mentioning about Web development companies but there are companies recruiting for Machine Learning, AI, Android many other roles. Second thing the team is quite helpful as I was shortlisted to many companies planning it properly to avoid overlapping. Negatives Ah! They definitely exist in any case but there are few little and the positives completely overshadowed the negatives for me.
Would I recommend to take a Nanodegree and attend Propel? — 200% Yes, it's not just for getting hired but the quality of course and mentorship is quite great where you have a person to help you through the course solving all your doubts and queries. Main thing that makes Udacity Nanodegree different from the rest is the projects. There are some real-time projects and you need to implement them and it would be reviewed by experts from all over the code and you get feedback from them.
